New platform combines cloud-native architecture, automation and industry-specific intelligence, with an initial focus on label converters.
September 8, 2026
By: Steve Katz
CERM has introduced O2, a new cloud-based MIS platform developed specifically for label, flexible packaging and folding carton converters. The platform will make its official debut at LOUPE Americas 2026, September 15-17 in Rosemont, IL.
O2 represents a new generation of MIS technology for CERM, combining cloud-based architecture with automation, an enhanced user experience and built-in print industry intelligence. The system is designed to address production environments characterized by shorter runs, greater job complexity, increased automation and a growing need for integration between software and production systems.
The new platform builds on CERM’s more than 40 years of industry experience and its CERM7 MIS, which is used by more than 500 companies worldwide. CERM says its 2025 acquisition of OMIKAI also brought additional cloud development expertise and technology that helped accelerate development of O2.
“Our team has traditionally been very strong at covering labels-and-packaging-specific needs and functionality through our well-proven CERM7 suite of products,” says Jan Heyse, CEO of CERM. “We continue that development while now adding a next-generation, cloud-native MIS product to our offering, built by a dedicated team, that relieves customers from IT infrastructure and security concerns, while giving them access to 40 years of labels and packaging industry workflow experience in a modern stack.”
Among O2’s priorities are increased automation, an API-first approach to integration and a simplified user experience. The platform will also leverage CERM’s existing technology partner ecosystem, which includes Esko, HYBRID Software, ABG and SCREEN.
Rather than immediately replicating the full functionality of CERM7, CERM is taking a phased approach to O2. The initial release is aimed primarily at small and midsize label converters seeking greater digitalization and automation without the complexity of a larger enterprise MIS implementation.
“Our goal is to create a platform that companies can grow with,” Heyse says. “We are starting with specific use cases where O2 can immediately provide value and will continue expanding its capabilities as both the platform and our customers evolve.”
CERM plans to progressively add capabilities for more complex production environments, with functionality specifically targeting flexible packaging and folding carton production scheduled for a second phase.
CERM will officially launch O2 on September 15 at LOUPE Americas, where it will also showcase its Lexis AI agent, which converts incoming customer emails and attachments into validated CERM sales orders; Smart BI Enterprise business intelligence technology; CERM Tempo scheduling capabilities; and enhanced quality management and traceability functionality.
